Model Assembly Research Component

Big Idea:
  • ·       What is a bill?  A bill is a proposed law or solution to a problem.  To understand any problem or proposed solution, one must know in depth how things work, what has been tried, and the foundational knowledge involved.  In the Model Assembly, groups will eventually find one bill or more, which is a solution to a problem, and navigate this bill through the “How a Bill Becomes a Law” process.  To do this, we want seniors to start off by researching what is going on in their committee in a general sense for their first Model Assembly research check.
  •         The Model Assembly research check 1 is Thursday (tomorrow) in committees.  Be prepared with 2 articles and a WB per student.  You also need a notebook like you have for senior project so you can keep your Cornell Notes in this notebook.
Instructions for Today:

1.  Review the Component Contract Bill Component (component 2) and Research Component (component 4).  Next week, we will be working on Bill Component (component 2) in class.  Today, you will start Research Component (component 4).

*You have already completed Discovering your Constituents (component 1) and you have started the Rules (component 3) by taking 3 quizzes.

2.  Go to the computer with your group and find research related to your committee. Think foundational knowledge.  Print what you find.  2 articles per person!  500 words minimum is fine.  This is different than the 750 words senior project requirement.  Wear your badges.
