Senior Project: The Importance of Mentorship

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”
                                                             ― Benjamin Franklin

Senior project mentorship is key to a successful senior project.  Please take the time and start your search for your mentor.  Talk to your parents, your parent's friends, your friend's parents, current seniors, and alumni about it.

What do we expect?

1.  The mentor should have some expertise in the senior project topic that interest you.
2.  Your mentoring experience at the bare minimum should include you job shadowing them at their place of employment.   It can also include helping them (aka volunteering), participating in activities with them, or more.  However, the basic requirement is only job shadowing.
3.  The hope is by having a mentor the senior project will be transformed into a more than a mere school assignment, but into something that is valid in the outside world.
4.  Reminder:  You are required to complete 10 hours prior to the start of school next year (August 19th).   You will be turning the completed hours to the senior team.  The senior team then will turn in the hours to the office to count toward the 200 hour community service requirement.  Can you do more than 10? Yes, we will turn in however many hours you complete.  However, you will still be required to complete an additional 50 hours during the senior year.  -->
